Maggie Q’s 3-Step Cold-Busting Cure

ASK MAGGIE: My nose is runny and my throat hurts. I don’t want to get sick. Help!

 

Maggie is our health guru here at QEEP UP headquarters. Whether it’s a vegan recipe or an exercise routine, we’re constantly bombarding her with our wellness questions.

So when some of us started feeling a cold coming on after all the holiday excitement and travel, Maggie immediately had a remedy, using everyday ingredients.

Full disclosure: We’re not saying it’s pleasant, but this ish works. 

 

STEP 1

Mix 1 part Celtic sea salt with 3 parts warm water.

Gargle for at least 30 seconds. Let the water go so far back in your throat that you gag and have to spit it out.

Don’t drink for at least 20 minutes afterwards.

Do this 3 to 4 times a day.

 

STEP 2

Gather these ingredients:

Garlic
Ginger
Lemon
Medium-sized red chili
Raw honey

Smash 2 cloves of garlic. Cut 4 to 5 slices of ginger. Thinly slice the chili. Squeeze half a lemon into a mug and add all the ingredients (just a few slices of chili!) plus a heaping tablespoon of honey. Pour hot water over the mixture and cover for 5 minutes. Make several mugs to drink throughout the day.

 

STEP 3

Take 2 Echinacea Goldenseal tablets, 3 times a day.

Take 1 Oil of Oregano tablet, twice a day.

Take 3000 mg of Vitamin C a day (not to exceed 1000 mg each time)

Stop the Vitamin C as soon as you feel better. Take the Echinacea Goldenseal and the Oil of Oregano for 7 to 10 days. And always check with your doctor before taking supplements you’ve never used before.
