International Women’s Day 2020: Generation Equality

Trying To Reach Gender Equality by 2030

Topic: The News

As we celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, we’re sobered by the fact that not a single country has achieved gender equality.

The theme of this year’s International’s Women’s Day is “I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.” It marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which is recognized as the most progressive roadmap for the empowerment of women and girls, everywhere.

UN Women states, “The Generation Equality campaign brings together people of every gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion and country, to drive actions that will create the gender-equal world we all deserve. Together, we want to mobilize to end gender-based violence; we are calling for economic justice and rights for all; bodily autonomy, sexual and reproductive health and rights; and feminist action for climate justice. We want technology and innovation for gender equality; and feminist leadership.”

To that end, they’ve come up with 12 Small Actions we can all adopt as we strive for gender equality.

We’re especially keen on #6: Shop Responsibly. Women and girls are disproportionately affected by climate change around the world. Our choices as conscious consumers affect not only the planet, but the most vulnerable people on it—girls and women.

At QEEP UP, we’re proud to offer a fully recycled collection that’s sustainable and eco-responsible. That we’re an all-woman team means we’re always thinking about women first.

So let’s celebrate women everywhere today, but let’s also recognize that our everyday choices can make a lasting impact on gender equality and freedom for all. We’ve got work to do!
